Working as a Lead Mechanical Piping Process Engineer overseeing design of pumping systems and pipeline design on a A.3 Billion tailings dam upgrade project at Cadia Gold Mine, operated by Newmont. KPIs include ensuring design is done safely and adhering to relevant standards and taking project from study to execution. As the senior person in the firm, I have responsibility to nurture and guide young engineers in the firm. A regular day involves design team meetings, mentoring young engineers, and stakeholder meetings. The Cadia mine is located 25km southwest of Orange in NSW and is one of Australia's largest underground gold and copper mines, producing approximately 597,000oz of gold annually.
